The Grand Canyon women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season with a 6-1 win over UC Riverside on Wednesday afternoon at the GCU Tennis Facility.
The Lopes (1-5) used the momentum of a packed crowd at the home courts to jump ahead with a dominant showing in doubles before winning five courts in straight sets in singles. Head coach
Katarina Adamovic also earned her first win of her coaching career.
The Lopes took the doubles point with ease thanks to a dominant performance at the top two doubles courts. Graduate student
Madeline Lamoreaux and freshman
Anali Kocevar finished first at court two with a 6-1 win. That set the stage for GCU No. 1 duo
Natasha Puehse and
Santa Strombacha to clinch the 1-0 lead with a 6-0 win.

The dual-match win was clinched by Puehse at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Strombacha at court two quickly followed with a straight set win, her fourth singles win in a row.
