GCU men get 1st competition since early December

Grand Canyon men's and women's diving is competing at the UCLA Diving Invitational this weekend. The Lopes look to perform well against some prestigious programs from Friday to Sunday in Los Angeles.

On the women's side, sophomore Shiori Bak and senior Abigail Erickson are coming off last week's meet with New Mexico State and Idaho. Erickson won the 3-meter event with a score of 245.55.

GCU men's diving is competing for the first time since the midseason invitational at Miami (Ohio) in early December. In that competition, Lopes junior Isaac Poole set a team record in platform with a score of 342.6, helping him to qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Poole also qualified for the 1-meter event.

Competition begins Friday at the Spieker Aquatics Center.
