The Grand Canyon women's golf team heads south to Maricopa, Arizona, to take on the Cowgirl Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The two-day tournament will begin on Monday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start and conclude on Tuesday.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- 22-TEAM TOURNAMENT:Â The 22-team tournament will be one of the largest tournaments that the Lopes have competed in this season.
- TRAVELING FIVE:  For the second weekend in a row, GCU travels four seniors and a sophomore for the Valley Invitational. Seniors Siripatsorn Patchana, Payton Fehringer,  Alexis Linam, and Madison Voisard look to lead the Lopes to a top finish in the 22-team tournament. Sophomore Constanza Guerrero will also be making the trip.
- BUILDING OFF RED ROCKS INVITATIONAL: The Lopes hope to build off their success in the last tournament, a Red Rocks Invitational victory with Patchana taking second overall.
WYOMING COWGIRL CLASSIC
The tournament's field includes hosts Wyoming, Southern Utah, South Dakota, Cal State Fullerton, California Baptist, Boise State, Hawaii, Santa Clara, Northern Arizona, Long Beach State, Northern Colorado, Montana State, Nevada, UTEP, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Montana, New Mexico State, UC Riverside, Seattle, and Portland State. The tournament consists of 54 holes with two rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. (Phoenix time). The Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is a par-72 course with 6,191 yards.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
GCU won its second tournament of the spring at the Red Rock Invitational. GCU took the team title outright by finishing the tournament at 1 over par. The Lopes outplayed a 19-team field, beating host Northern Arizona by six strokes with four Lopes finishing in the top 25 and two in the top four.

Siripatsorn Patchana was the runner-up, finishing 4 below par and one stroke behind medalist Eliska Kocourkova of NAU. Patchana improved through the tournament, shooting rounds of par, 1 below par and then 3 below par with the help of a final-round eagle. Spain native
Constanza Guerrero, a GCU sophomore, took fourth place at 2 under par by rallying from a first-round 75 with rounds of 69 and 70. Her third round included a run of three consecutive birdies. Lopes senior
Alexis Linam finished 5 over par and tied for 17th while senior teammate
Payton Fehringer tied for 22nd place after opening the tournament with a 2-under-par round on Saturday.
WHAT'S NEXT
Before the WAC Championship, the Lopes will play their final tournament of the season at the Chambers Bay Invitational in Seattle on April 11-12.
