SEATTLE – The Grand Canyon women's tennis team wrapped up the opening weekend of WAC play with a 7-0, neutral-site win over Dixie State on Saturday.
The Lopes (6-8, 2-0 WAC) were dominant, winning on all three doubles courts and on all six singles courts in straight sets. In the first weekend of conference play, the Lopes won 13 out of 14 matches.
GCU took the doubles point over the Trailblazers (2-14, 0-2 WAC) with a 6-1 win by junior

Santa Strombacha at Court 1 and a 6-2 win by senior
Jana Weiss and freshman
Valentina Del Marco at Court 3. Senior duo
Autum Prudhomme and
Fabienne Schmidt quickly followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
Up 1-0, the Lopes extended their lead in singles with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win from Strombacha and a 6-1, 6-1 win by Puehse at Courts 3 and 1. The dual-match win was clinched by Del Marco at No. 6 with her second WAC singles win of the weekend, defeating Dixie State's Jane Dorny 6-0, 6-0.
With the dual-match win wrapped up, the Lopes completed the match with wins by Weiss and Prudhomme at Court 4 and 5.
The Lopes will be back home in two weeks for a WAC pod at GCU Tennis Facility from April 14-16, when they will face Chicago State and New Mexico State.
