Grand Canyon entered two national polls on Monday and is receiving consideration for two more national polls.
The Lopes are ranked No. 23 in Perfect Game's top-25 poll and No. 29 in the Collegiate Baseball national poll. GCU is receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll and D1Baseball.com's poll.
GCU is coming off a week in which it defeated No. 4 Texas Tech in two midweek games while sweeping the WAC West Division's second-place team, Dixie State, in a three-game road series.
Perfect Game's release said: "The Lopes have won six in a row and went 5-0 on the week, sweeping Dixie State and taking both midweek games from Texas Tech. Grand Canyon now sits comfortably atop the WAC with a 13-2 conference record."
While not including GCU in its top-25 rankings, D1Baseball.com writer Aaron Fitt said: "GCU has moved up into the Top 25 mix based on those two wins and its dominance of the WAC ... they'll need to sustain their success a little longer to make up for those blemishes and get into the rankings."
GCU was last ranked in the top 30 on May 17, 2021, after back-to-back conference series sweeps and a 34-17-1 record.
The Lopes are 4-2 on the year against top-25 competition, posting the two victories vs. No. 4 Texas Tech with wins at No. 5 Oregon State and No. 11 Arizona. The NCAA Ratings Percentage Index also put GCU at No. 26 as of Monday.
The Lopes have won six consecutive games and is 14-3 in its last 17 games.
GCU welcomes California Baptist for a three-game series at GCU Ballpark beginning on Thursday night.
