The Grand Canyon women's golf team hosts the GCU Invitational at GCU Golf Course in Phoenix on Monday and Tuesday. The invitational will have three rounds with the first of two rounds on Monday starting at 8 a.m.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- HOME TOURNAMENT:Â The Lopes are back in action after having a week off as they host their only tournament of the year.
- SAME FIVE: For the second weekend in a row, GCU traveled three seniors and two sophomores for The Show in Las Vegas. Seniors Siripatsorn Patchana, Payton Fehringer and Alexis Linam and sophomores Carly Strole and Constanza Guerrero teamed for a 12th-place finish. Patchana and Strole were the top Lopes finishers, tying for 41st place.
- 19-TEAMS: The Lopes welcome 18 schools to Phoenix, including WAC members Seattle U, Dixie State and UT Rio Grande Valley. A total of 104 players will take the course.
GCU INVITATIONAL
The tournament field includes UC Riverside, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Montana State, Portland State, UTEP, Idaho, North Dakota State, CSU Bakersfield, Seattle U, Southern Utah, Dixie State, Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, SMU and UTRGV. The 54-hole tournament will take place over two days with 36 holes being played on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday. The course will be a par 72 on both days, but the yardage will go from 6,171 on Monday to 6,095 on Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUTÂ
GCU played in The Show two weeks ago, where they struggled during the opening round but improved in the second round. The Lopes battled the wind in the final round on Tuesday but managed to move up three spots to finsh 2th out of 16 teams.

Sophomore
Carly Strole was the Lopes top scorer, jumping 13 spots to tie for 41st after scoring 11 over par in the tournament. In her final round, Strole shot 5 over par. GCU senior
Siripatsorn Patchana struggled in her final round, falling seven spots to tie with Strole at 41st.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lopes head to Hawai'i for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Hoakalei Country Club in Ewa Beach, Hawai'i, on March 7-8.
