The Grand Canyon women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with another individual award for junior forward
Gianna Gourley who was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
It is the fourth weekly award for the GCU team captain this season and she ended the regular season with four goals in two games including a hat trick against Sam Houston.
Â
Against New Mexico State on Friday, Gourley converted a penalty kick late in the second half to break the GCU single season goal record with her 14th goal.
Â
The Las Vegas native wasn't done as she scored again from the penalty spot against Sam Houston on Saturday to open the scoring in the 25th minute. In the second half, Gourley added two more goals in the 50th and 54th minute to complete the first hat trick by a Lope this season. The Lopes would go on to win 6-0 to end the regular season at 10-6-2, their second straight double digit win season.
Â
Gourley finishes the regular season with 17 goals good for third most in the country and just two behind the national leader. Her 39 points are also good for fourth most in the country and one off from the GCU single season record.
Â
Gourley and the No. 5 seeded Lopes will open the 2022 WAC Tournament on Wednesday against No. 4 Utah Tech at 7 p.m. from Seattle U.
