Grand Canyon women's soccer earned its second weekly WAC honor of the season with fifth-year forward
Camryn Larson being named WAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Larson did it all for the Lopes last weekend, tallying a goal and an assist in a 3-0 Friday win at Northern Arizona before scoring the game-winning goal in the 105th minute against UNLV at home on Sunday.
Larson's heroics helped move GCU to 5-1 as the team extends its best start in program history.
Against NAU, Larson scored the first of three Lopes second-half goals in the 59th minute. Fellow fifth-year defender
Mikaela McGee crossed a ball into the box from the right side and Larson headed it past the NAU goalkeeper. Larson wrapped up her performance by assisting on a goal by
Jaycee Iranshad in the 85th minute.
On Sunday, Larson and the Lopes led 1-0 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation until UNLV tied the game on a free kick just outside the penalty box. In the second overtime period, senior
Noah Johnson played a through ball which found Larson, who finished the right-footed shot just out of the reach of the oncoming UNLV goalie.
The two goals and five points for Larson move her to third on the GCU Division I-era career leader lists with 16 goals and 36 points.
The Lopes will be back in action this week hosting the GCU Tournament with matches against Denver on Thursday and New Mexico on Saturday. Both matches will start at 8 p.m. at GCU Stadium.
