Grand Canyon women's soccer earned its third weekly conference honor of the season when junior forward
Lindsey Prokop was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Â
Prokop earned her first weekly WAC award as a Lope and paced the GCU offense with two goals in a 4-1 win over UC San Diego on Sunday. The Lopes wrap up nonconference play with a 7-2 record, extending their best start in program history.
Â
Prokop got the scoring started with a penalty kick, the first of her career, with just 12 seconds left in the first half and later solidified the GCU win with her second goal in the 50th minute on the GCU counterattack. It was the first of three second-half goals that the Lopes scored in the win.
Â
The 2019 WAC Freshman of the Year has improved greatly in her second year as a Lope and leads the team with four goals. She is second in points with nine heading into conference action.
Â
GCU will kick off WAC play on the road this week against reigning conference tournament champion Utah Valley on Thursday and Dixie State on Saturday.
