The No. 15 Grand Canyon men's soccer team travels to UNLV for the final matchup of the season on Saturday. The Lopes take on the Rebels at 7 p.m. with the match streamed live on the WAC Digital Network.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- NATIONAL RECOGNITION: The Lopes earned their highest ranking in program history at No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week, topping their previous bests of Nos. 16 and 20 from earlier this season. GCU is also ranked No. 17 in the College Soccer News Poll, No. 23 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll and No. 12 in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI rankings.
- HATS OFF TO MOELLER: Freshman forward Maximilian Moeller recorded the first GCU hat trick since 2017 on March 26 vs. Dixie State. The Erfurt, Germany, native scored all three goals in the second half of the match to be named WAC Offensive Player of the Week and earn a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
- END OF AN ERA: GCU head coach Schellas Hyndman announced that he will retire at the conclusion of this season. Hyndman is the second-winningest active coach in Division I men's soccer with a 509-169-58 record. He was inducted into the United Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in the offseason in recognition of his 37-season coaching career.
SCOUTING
UNLV is in fourth place in the WAC with a 4-3-2 record this season. The Rebels started the season with a loss to Incarnate Word and ties against Air Force and Seattle U. UNLV's first win came against Houston Baptist on March 5, when the Rebels shut out the Huskies 1-0. UNLV recorded two more 1-0 shutouts over Utah Valley and California Baptist on March 19 and 22, respectively. UNLV's biggest win of the season came March 31 as the Rebels took down Dixie State 2-0 on the road. UNLV is coming off a 1-0 loss to San Jose State on Monday.Junior midfielder Bailey Letherman leads UNLV with three goals this season. Letherman and senior defender BIlly Jones each have a team-high three assists.
The Rebels finished the 2019 season at 6-12-1, going 4-6-1 in the WAC.

- GCU defeated Dixie State 5-1 at home on Senior Night.

- The WAC Tournament will being Tuesday in Las Vegas with the semifinals on Thursday and the championship match on Saturday.
