Grand Canyon continues its season-opening home slate with another four-game series at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark, this time against Oregon State. The Lopes and Beavers meet up for the the first time since a neutral-site game in 1994. The first two games will start at 6 p.m. with the weekend games starting at 2 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
All four games will be streamed live on GCUTV and "GCU" on YouTube, while Friday's game can also be watched on Fox 10 Xtra (Ch. 45/Cable 9) and ESPN3 with Barry Buetel, Mike Rooney and Kate Longworth.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- NO. 1 VS. NO. 2: This series will feature the top two hitters in the country so far this season. GCU freshman outfielder Ryland Zaborowski enters this series leading the country in hits with nine, while Oregon State senior infielder Andy Armstrong sits in a tie for second with eight. Zaborowski is hitting at a .563 clip (9 for 16) while Armstrong is hitting .533 (8 for 15).
 - WAC SWEEP: For the first time since joining the WAC, GCU swept the conference's hitter and pitcher of the week awards. Zaborowski started his collegiate career on a tear with four straight multi-hit games and two extra-base hits including a solo home run in the second game against Missouri. Senior righty Zach Barnes pitched lights out against the Tigers on opening day ,throwing six scoreless innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts while surrendering only two hits.
 - LUCKY NO. 50: The Lopes have played every home game on Brazell Field since legendary head coach Dave Brazell and his Lopes opened the facility in 1962, winning 1,358 games. Now with the recent construction of GCU Ballpark in 2018 around Brazell Field, the Lopes have the opportunity to win their 50th game sitting at a 49-29 record. Notable victories since the facility's opening include Oklahoma State, Oregon, TCU, Missouri, Wichita State and Utah.
SCOUTING
Oregon State started its season with four games at nearby Surprise Stadium — the spring training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers — in the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic. The Beavers dropped the season opener 3-2 to Kansas State but proceeded to outscore New Mexico and Gonzaga 39-7 in the next three games to end the weekend 3-1.
Senior outfielder Preston Jones leads the team with a .583 average, eight runs scored and three triples. Infielder Ryan Ober and outfielder Joe Casey lead the team with two home runs. On the mound, left-handed freshman Cooper Hjerpe struck out nine batters in 5 1/3 innings in a 14-1 win over the Lobos while redshirt sophomore Kevin Abel threw 4 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts on opening day.  Eight of the 10 relievers that pitched did not allow a run and combined to give up just seven hits with 11 strikeouts.
Former GCU pitching coach Rich Dorman (2017-19) makes his return as Oregon State's pitching coach. Seven Lopes pitchers remain on GCU's roster from Dorman's final season in 2019.
Oregon State has claimed national championships in 2006, 2007 and 2018. The Beavers have won more titles in the last 15 seasons than any other program.

WHAT'S NEXT
GCUÂ hits the road for the first time this year, traveling to Oklahoma State for a three-game series from March 5-7. The Lopes won the 2020 season-opening series at GCU Ballpark against the Cowboys.Â
