Grand Canyon junior forward
Gianna Gourley was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Â
Gourley paced the GCU offense in a 6-0 win over New Mexico State on Saturday, when she scored two goals and made an assist in 52 minutes.
Â
The Las Vegas native, who also won the WAC award for Sept. 20-26, is tied for the GCU and WAC lead with eight goals this season. Six of those goals came in the past four games of conference play.
Â
Against the Aggies, Gourley kicked off the scoring in the sixth minute by finishing a right-footed shot into the right side of the net. In the second half, it was more of the same, as Gourley scored again in the 51st minute and then assisted on a goal by
Brenna Alderson in the 64th minute.
Â
GCU has been on a scoring rampage with 18 goals in the past four matches, jumping into the top five nationally with 41 goals this season. The Lopes also ranks seventh in Division I with 120 points and 11th with 38 assists.
Â
The Lopes will take to the road this week with matches at Seattle U and California Baptist on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
