11 programs post perfect Academic Progress Rate score
Eleven of Grand Canyon's 19 athletic programs posted a perfect 2018-19 score in the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate that was publicly announced on Tuesday.
The APR holds institutions accountable for student-athlete academic progress through a team-based metric that measures eligibility and retention. Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for remaining academically eligible. A cumulative team score represents a program's APR.
In addition to the 11 programs with single-year perfect scores, five programs earned multiyear perfect scores and top-10% recognition: men's tennis, women's cross country, women's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
All 19 of GCU's programs (combining indoor and outdoor track and field into one program) earned a multiyear score of 950 or higher. Eighteen programs scored a 970 or higher.
