For the second consecutive week, the Grand Canyon men's tennis team earned a WAC Player of the Week award with the latest going to senior
Valentin Lang and freshman
Can Franke in doubles.
For Lang, it is his second WAC award of the season after he earned WAC Doubles Players of the Month with
Jakub Novak in November. For Franke, it is his second straight week with a WAC doubles honor, earning WAC Doubles Players of the Week with senior
Lorenzo Fucile last week.
Lang and Franke competed at the No. 1 doubles position at home Saturday and won easily 6-1 over Michael and Jayson Blando of UC Riverside. While it was a 4-3 team loss, Franke earned a team-leading third doubles win to start the season while Lang played for the first time at the top doubles spot in his career.
The Lopes will travel this week to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of matches at Washington. GCU will face the Huskies on Friday before playing Cal Poly on Saturday in a neutral-site match. Both matches will be played at 6 p.m. (Phoenix time).
