RESULTS
LAKEWOOD, Wash.  – The Grand Canyon women's golf team completed the first round of the WAC Championship in fourth place on Thursday at Oakbrook Golf Club.
The defending champs led for most of the day, but the final two holes proved to be tough on the Lopes and the field, with the 18th hole yielding a stroke average that was an entire shot above par.
GCU sophomore
Siripatsorn Patchana led the Lopes with a round of 70 (1 under par) to be in third place entering Friday's second round. Lopes junior
Carolina Sandstrom fired a 71 and sits in a tie for fourth place.
Other GCU scores included freshman
Payton Fehringer with a 76, sophomore
Alexis Linam with a 77 and junior
Courtney Vogel with a 78.
Only three tournament players finished under par with New Mexico State's Dominique Galloway and Seattle U's Vendela From each shooting 69 to tie for the lead.
Utah Valley leads the tournament with a score of 289, followed by Seattle (292), NMSU (293), GCU (294) and Kansas City (296).
