EL MACERO, Calif. – The Grand Canyon men's golf team finished the 15-team El Macero Classic in seventh place on Sunday at El Macero Country Club.
GCU finished with a total of 880 (16 over par), just behind Fresno State (879) and Nevada (876). No. 10 Texas Tech won the event with an even-par score of 864, six shots ahead of Oregon State.
The Lopes were led by junior
Michael Salazar with rounds of 76, 71 and 72, which was good for a 219 total and 14th-place finish. Senior
Filip Lundell was also in the top 20, claiming a 19th-place finish (220).
Junior
Jake Chanen (221) finished in 22nd place, while junior
Trevor Lampson (225) finished in 38th place and freshman
Matthew Braley (227) in 44th place.
Medalist honors went to Sandy Scott of Texas Tech with a score of 213.
GCU is back in action at the WAC Championship in Lakewood, Wash., on April 27-29 at Oakbrook Golf Club.
