10-tourney schedule sets up MW Championship on April 27-29
Grand Canyon men's golf head coach Mark Mueller announced the 2026-27 schedule, a 10-tournament slate that concludes April 27-29 in Palm Desert, California, for the Mountain West Championship.
GCU will appear in five fall tournaments starting Sept. 20-21 in Independence, Minnesota. The list of states the Lopes will visit include New Mexico, Florida and California. The Florida trip in mid-October is the first tournament for GCU in the Sunshine State since Feb. 9, 2010. The Lopes will compete in the Bryson Invitational at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami.
The spring sees familiar tournaments along with new courses. GCU will head to Hawai'i for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, a longstanding tradition for the program to open spring play on the island of Kauai.
The Lopes also will compete in the Admired Leadership Showcase in Valencia, California, for the first time with UCLA hosting at Valencia Country Club on March 22-24.
This season's Cowboy Classic is being held at We-Ko-Pa Golf Course in Fort McDowell, Arizona, on March 29-30.
After staying in state at last year's Mountain West Championship, the team will head west to Palm Desert, California, for a chance to claim the conference trophy April 27-29. The tourney winner receives an automatic bid into an NCAA regional.
The Lopes return last season's starting five that placed fourth at the 12-team MW Championship in May. Top returners include junior Matthew Diehl, who won 2025 WAC Freshman of the Year and competed in his second U.S. Amateur Championship this summer, and classmate Nixon Lauritzen, who won last season's National Golf Invitational and will compete in the PGA Butterfield Bermuda Championship in Southhampton, Bermuda, this October.
