SACRAMENTO – The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished the first day of The Gunrock Invitational on Monday in sixth place.
The Lopes held their own in a strong field, led by a pair of under-par rounds by
Siripatsorn Patchana. The GCU sophomore fired a pair of 71s and is in a tie for third place, four shots behind leader Corinne Viden of Sacramento State.
Patchana's 142 total was followed by teammates
Carolina Sandstrom (151),
Courtney Vogel (152),
Payton Fehringer (156) and
Alexis Linam (157).
As a team, GCU is in sixth place with a 601 total. Sacramento State leads the tourney (569), followed by Coastal Carolina (586), UC Davis (587), No. 44 California (588) and Nevada (595).
Final-round action will be played Tuesday at Del Paso Country Club.
