PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico  – The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational on Saturday. The Lopes fired their best round of the tournament, led by a pair of 73s from sophomoreÂ
Siripatsorn Patchana and junior
Courtney Vogel.
GCU improved its team score each day, including a final round of 296. The Lopes finished with a three-round total of 904 to edge out Colorado State (907) and Iowa (911).
No. 10 Arizona won the tournament, finishing as the only team under par in the 12-team field.
Patchana recorded a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a total of 220 (4 over par). Sophomore
Alexis Linam tied for 18
th place (224), while freshman
Payton Fehringer finished in 33
rd (228).
Vogel improved each round and finished in 46
th place while freshman Kaylee DeJonge finished in 66
th place.
Junior
Carolina Sandstrom led all players who played as individuals, tying for 16th place overall.
GCU is back in action at the Fresno State Classic on April 1-2 at Copper River Country Club. It will be the final tune-up before the WAC Championship on April 18-20 at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash.
