The Grand Canyon women's basketball team begins the second half of conference play on Thursday, as the Lopes (5-13, 3-5 WAC) look to get back in the win column after losing to CSU Bakersfield on Saturday.Â
GCU is on the road for two games this week at UTRGV and New Mexico State. The Lopes and UTRGV played on January 12 when the Vaqueros came away with a 66-50 win. GCU defeated the WAC-leading Aggies on January 10, 54-51, to give NMSU its only conference loss of the season so far.

UT Rio Grande Valley (10-10, 4-3 WAC) is an even 10-10 on the season and 4-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Vaqueros and the Lopes squared off in the middle of January where UTRGV won in a 16-point margin game, 66-50. So far this season, UTRGV has wins over Texas Lutheran, Canisius, St. Thomas, Prairie View A&M, Louisiana, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Seattle U and Kansas City.Â
Last season, UT Rio Grande Valley was 14-16 overall and 4-10 in WAC play. The Lopes claimed both meeting with the Vaqueros (65-59 and 59-58). UTRGV lost in the first round of the WAC tournament to No. 2 CSU Bakersfield, 70-59.
