Lopes in 5th place as darkness halts play
The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished the first round of the GCU Invitational in fifth place but the second round was suspended due to darkness with players through approximately 15 holes at GCU Championship Golf Course.
Teams will finish the second round Sunday, teeing off at 8 a.m. Players will immediately follow up with the final round, staying in their original groups.
GCU first-round scores included Payton Fehringer's 74, Courtney Vogel's 76, Carolina Sandstrom's 76, Kaylee DeJonge's 77 and Alexis Linam's 79. Siripatsorn Patchana added a first-round 72 as an individual entry.
Toledo is the current team leader in the second-round with a 1-over-par team score. Toledo is followed by Southern Utah (11 over), Utah Valley (18 over), Lamar (19 over) and GCU (21 over).
