PORTLAND, Ore. — Grand Canyon senior power forward
Da'jah Daniel recorded her second consecutive double-double but the Lopes fell 73-41 at Portland on Sunday.
Daniel scored 18 points and secured 11 of a team season-high 29 rebounds and freshman point guard
Jada Holland delivered eight assists wtih only one turnover but GCU (2-5) cooled to 29% percent shooting against Portland (6-3).

Tavia Rowell put up the Lopes' first points of the game with a 3-pointer at 8:47 in the first quarter.
Laura Piera, a sophomore point guard, followed up with a layup and a free throw to give the Lopes a 6-4 lead. After Portland tied it at 6-6, Daniel took back the lead for GCU with a free throw followed by a second-chance layup with 5:36 left in the first. Portland closed out the first quarter with a 17-2 run to take a 23-11 lead and never look back.
Daniel continued to battle for the Lopes, making the first two baskets of the second quarter. She finished the first half with 12 points, scoring seven of GCU's 11 points of the second quarter. Despite her offensive efforts, the Lopes trailed 45-22 at halftime.
Daniel opened second-half scoring with a layup and followed with another but that was the only GCU score amid a Pilots 11-2 run. Lopes sophomore guard
Tianna Brown broke it up with a layup with three minutes left in the quarter, followed by a 3-point play from freshman guard

Mariah Mitchell, a GCU sophomore guard, scored her first points of the game with a layup to close the third quarter but the Lopes trailed 59-33.

Venla Varis and Daniel paired up for GCU's only points in the fourth quarter. Varis made back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth and fifth minutes of the quarter to help the Lopes to a seven-point run. Daniel made two free throws through the course of the fourth quarter to close the game with 18 points.
GCU returns to action on Dec. 16, taking on UNLV in GCU Arena.
