The Grand Canyon women's basketball team looks for its third consecutive win on Saturday after the Lopes (4-9, 2-1 WAC) defeated New Mexico State in Phoenix for the second straight year.
GCU and Texas-Rio Grande Valley (7-8, 1-1 WAC) square off at 2 p.m. on Saturday inside GCU Arena.

AJ Cephas (10.2 ppg) are pacing the GCU offense, while the freshman pair of guards
Taylor Caldwell and
Laura Piera have been key contributors so far. Caldwell scored a career-high 15 points in Thursday's 54-51 home victory against NMSU.
Scouting UT Rio Grande Valley
UT Rio Grande Valley is 7-8 on the season and 1-1 in WAC play, as the Vaqueros opened conference action with a four-point win over California Baptist before falling to CSU Bakersfield by five points on Thursday night.
UTRGV started the season with a dominating win over Texas Lutheran before falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the South Texas Showdown. The Vaqueros went 1-2 on the road with losses to Texas-San Anotnio and UMass while beating Canisius before returning home to defeat St. Thomas on home hardwood.
The Vaqueros went 3-0 at their UTRGV Fall Classic, winning a rematch against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and also downing Prairie View A&M and Louisiana. Before conference play, UTRGV lost four games in a row but three came against ranked teams (No. 12 Texas, No. 23 Texas A&M and No. 6 Baylor).
Last season, the Vaqueros were 14-16 overall and 4-10 in the WAC, as GCU claimed both meetings in the regular season. UTRGV lost 70-59 to second-seeded CSU Bakersfield in the first round of the WAC Tournament.
