FINAL RESULTS
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The Grand Canyon men's golf team finished in ninth place Sunday at the 15-team Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms.
GCU was led by junior
Trevor Lampson with a 12
th-place finish at 219 (72-73-74). Freshman
Matthew Braley finished in 34
th place with a 224, including GCU's only sub-70 round with a final-round 69. Senior
Filip Lundell finished with a 225 (74-77-74). Junior
Michael Salazar came in with a 226 and freshman
Nick Hedman followed with a 237.
The Lopes' best round came during Saturday's first round, which saw GCU land in a fourth-place tie. The Lopes closed the tournament ahead of Miami (Ohio) and Wisconsin and only three shots behind Michigan. WAC defending champion Kansas City tied for fifth place, five strokes ahead of GCU.
Marquette won the event with a score of 874, edging Notre Dame by one shot.
The individual medalist was Hunter Ostrom of Notre Dame. He was one of three players to finish the tournament under par.
Rich Harvest Farms was the site of the 2017 NCAA Championship.
GCU is back in action at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Sept. 24 and 25 in Erie, Colo.
