BREMERTON, Wash. – Grand Canyon completed the third and final day of The Tindall, its second tournament in five days, at the Gold Mountain Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
News and notes
- GCU placed 13th at 9 over par when play concluded Tuesday.
- Lopes freshman Daniel Nilsson finished 26th with a team-best score of 1 under. Nilsson shot 1 over in Tuesday's final round and finished with eight pars and a birdie over his final nine holes.
- Sophomore teammate Matthew Diehl, who placed second last weekend in the season-opening tournament in New Mexico, jumped 19 spots and finished 3 over for 44th place. Diehl went 2 under Tuesday to tie Nilsson for the lowest round among all Lopes.
GCU's day started by finishing the last handful of second-round holes after Monday's play was suspended due to darkness. The squad shot 2 over in the second round after a 1-under first round.
Diehl highlighted the third round with a 1-over front nine and 3-under back nine that included four birdies over his final nine holes. Nilsson showed poise after carding four bogeys in a five-hole stretch on the front nine with nothing but pars and a birdie over his final nine holes.
GCU sophomore
Campbell Kerr placed 55th at 5 over, followed by classmates
Nixon Lauritzen at 6 over (60th) and Mans Boje at 9 over (69th). The tournament marked Boje's first as a scoring Lope after competing as an individual entry in New Mexico.
After returning to Phoenix for practices, the Lopes will play their third fall tournament in Benton Harbor, Michigan, at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate, which starts Sunday at Point O'Woods Country Club.
