Hamberlin, Reinking named Student-Athletes of the Month

Grand Canyon student-athletes have their sights set on more than just winning on the competition field. With the help of the Academic and Student-Athlete Development staff, the Lopes are looking to provide leadership in the classroom and the community in addition to their roles on their respective teams.
Each month, GCULopes.com will feature two Lopes who are excelling in all three of these important phases of college life. Congratulations to the honorees for March 2018: Josh Hamberlin and Emily Reinking.

| In the community Hamberlin spends his free time volunteering weekly at his church, assisting with the young men's and scouting program. With his team, he participates in monthly service activities, most recently, St. Mary's Food Bank. |
In the community Reinking is a member of the GCU Honors College and has been able to sustain a 3.98 GPA in addition to her on court and community activities. The senior spends time every week volunteering at New City Church and has served with Feed My Starving Children and the YMCA. |
| On the track Hamberlin after helping his team to a three-peat of the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, the senior competed at the Willie Williams Invite and made history. Hamberlin's hammer throw broke the all-time GCU record by seven meters with a final distance of 61.25. |
On the court Reinking pairs with partner Jamie Walsh on the court and has worked her way to a 9-3 record in 2018. She has been key in some of the Lopes biggest matches including recording wins against top-five teams such as USC, Pepperdine and Hawai'i. |
