The Grand Canyon cross country teams compete at the WAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Seattle.
In a pre-meet poll of coaches, the GCU men tied for fourth while the GCU women were tabbed to finish fourth.
Â
"For us, it's a full team effort and on both sides we have the strongest and deepest team at GCU ever," Lopes head coach
Sara Slattery said. "We have some tough competition with Utah Valley, California Baptist, Kansas City, UTRGV and New Mexico State always has a good squad. We are aware of our competitors and our conference is getting better as a whole."
Â
GCU runners have put up solid numbers with senior

Â
On the women's side, juniors
Elizabeth Balsan and

Â
"Everybody is healthy and will be rested," Slattery said. "We have been improving each race. We are ready to race and show that we are capable of surpassing predictions and expectations of what we are capable of."
Â
The conference coaches picked newcomer California Baptist to win the men's title and Utah Valley to win the women's title.
