PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's soccer team returns to the GCU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 7 to host UC Santa Barbara in the first game of a 4/7 p.m. GCU soccer double header. Thursday's game will be shown live on the WAC Digital Network. The Lopes (3-3, 0-0 WAC) will then travel to Houston, Texas to match up with Houston Baptist on Sunday, Sept. 10. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and a live broadcast and stats will be available.
GCU is coming off of a weekend sweep of Nevada and Detroit Mercy, as the Lopes head to Thursday's contest with a three-game win streak on the line. Grand Canyon has scored five unanswered goals in the last three games and earned a pair of back-to-back shutouts over the weekend. Senior goalkeeper

Scouting UC Santa Barbara
The Gauchos (3-2, 0-0 Big West) began the year with a pair of shutouts over Idaho (3-0) and San Jose State (1-0). UCSB suffered its first loss of the season to UCLA in a 3-1 decision.
Since then, the Gauchos traveled to Minneapolis where they split a pair of games by defeating Minnesota (1-0), but falling to Iowa (2-0) to advance to 3-2 on the year.
Last season, UCSB was 11-6-2 on the year and 2-5-1 in the Big West conference. The Gauchos didn't compete in any postseason contests. This Thursday's match marks the first between GCU and UCSB.
Scouting Houston Baptist
Due to hurricane conditions in the Houston area, the Huskies (0-3, 0-0 Southland) have played just three games this season. HBU most recently fell, 5-0, at North Texas after dropping its two opening matches to Fairfield (2-1 2OT) and Utah Valley (2-1) in Hawaii.
The Huskies will host UTRGV on Friday before facing GCU on Sunday. Sunday's game will be the first time that the teams will meet.
Last season, HBU was 10-11-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the Southland Conference. The Huskies won the Southland Conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament, but dropped the opening game to #1 Stanford, 4-0.
