PHOENIX, Ariz. – After a double overtime tie at home and a road loss, the Grand Canyon women's soccer team returns home for a pair of games at GCU Soccer Stadium. The Lopes (3-4-1, 0-0 WAC) host Stetson on Friday in a 7 p.m. (MST) game and Hawaii on Sunday at 4 p.m. Live stats will be available for both games and admission is free of charge.
Both games will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network and by GCU TV.
Scouting Stetson
The Hatters (4-2, 0-0 ASUN) started the 2017 campaign with a win over American (3-0). The following two games were lost to UCF (2-0) and Bryant (2-1). The Hatters then won the three most recent games with 1-0 decisions over Embry-Riddle and fellow WAC member UTRGV and a 6-1 domination of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Stetson hasn't played since Sept. 2 due to hurricane weather in Florida.
Last season, the Hatters were 9-7-2 overall and 5-2 in ASUN conference play. They defeated North Florida in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to Lipscomb, 2-1, in the second round.
Scouting Hawaii
The Rainbow Warriors (3-4, 0-0 Big West) began the year with a pair of overtime 2-1 victories over fellow WAC member Utah Valley and Fairfield.
The following weekend, Hawaii fell twice to Pacific (1-0) and WAC member Seattle U (2-0). They suffered a third and fourth consecutive loss at Idaho, 1-0, and Gonzaga, 4-0. Most recently, the Rainbow Warriors shutout Idaho State, 2-0.
Last season, Hawaii was 9-6-2 and 2-5-1 in the BWC. They did not compete in the postseason.
Hawaii will play at Arizona State on Friday, Sept. 15 before heading to the GCU Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
