PHOENIX- The Grand Canyon women's soccer team will travel to Flagstaff, Ariz. to play in the NAU Mountain Classic for the third consecutive year. GCU will face New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 9 and UIC Sunday Sept. 11.
The Lopes will look to continue their winning ways after back-to-back shutout victories at home over NAU and Northern Colorado in Week 3.

GCU Notables
- GCU went 2-0 in Week 3 and improved to 2-4-0 on the season. The Lopes posted consecutive shutout victories after defeating Northern Arizona (5-0) and Northern Colorado (1-0).
- GCU scored six goals through 18 shots on goal in Week 3.
- Anyssa DeVera, Milla Benedetti, Brylee Hawkins, Maria Monterroso and Rachel Mina scored goals against the Lumberjacks.
- Blakely Fraasch made the start in goal for GCU and had three stops on the weekend.
- Both Fraasch and Benedetti earned Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week accolades for their performance.
- The Lopes posted back-to-back matches with 18 shots and achieved a season high in the process.
- For the first time since joining the Division I ranks, the Lopes shutout out an opponent by five goals.
- The Last time GCU swept a weekend with back-to-back shutouts was in 2014 when they defeated Seattle U (1-0) and Utah Valley (2-0) on the road.
Scouting New Mexico
- The Lobos currently sit at 2-2-1 on the season. In Week 3, New Mexico went 1-0-1 as they tied with Weber State and defeated Idaho State 4-3 in a late game thriller.
- New Mexico's two losses came at the hands of ranked opponents Texas Tech (18) and California (21).
- Maddie Irwin leads the Lobos with three goals through nine shots on goal and one assist. This past weekend Irwin scored twice on back-to-back headers less than four minutes apart.
Scouting UIC
- The Flames are 1-3-2 this season. In Week 3, they went 0-2 to SIUE and Baylor.
- Emily Wauer leads the way for the UIC with two goals through 16 shots on goal this season.
- The Flame's lone win came against New Mexico State where they defeated the Aggies 4-1 in Week 2.
- Annie Dicanio has spent the majority of the time in goal for the Flames and has 20 saves with a 1.70 goals against average percentage.
Series, Tourney History Notables
- The Lopes will meet both New Mexico and Illinois Chicago for the first time in program history.
- Last season GCU went 0-2 in the Mountain Classic after falling to Robert Morris and North Dakota State in 2-1 outcomes.
