Grand Canyon men's soccer returns to the road to continue Western Athletic Conference play as they face UNLV and Seattle U. After two weeks into conference play, this will be the biggest test for the Lopes as they square off against the Rebels, who are one point above them in the standings and then close out the weekend against the No. 1 team in the WAC, Seattle U.
Â
Heading into the weekend, the Lopes are fifth in the WAC standings with five points and sit just one point away from third place. The defense of GCU will be tested this weekend as they face two of the top-three scoring offenses in the WAC as Seattle U ranks second with 69 points and UNLV is third with 61 points.
Â
Looking to answer the bell against two potent offenses, is GCU's reigning WAC Offensive Player of the Week is forward
Niki Jackson. The junior is coming of his second WAC Player of the Week honor in just four weeks as he recorded his second hat trick of the season. Jackson is just one of three players in Division I to score three goals in two different games this season. Jackson remains in the lead for the WAC with 19 points and nine goals.
Â
Scouting UNLV
Despite the 4-9 record overall, scoring has not been an issue for the Rebels, scoring 21 goals this season, which ranks third in the conference. During WAC matches, Danny Musovski has been on a tear, scoring a league-high seven points and three goals, tied with GCU's Jackson. Joining Musovski as the only other Rebel with double-digit points this season is Timo Mehlich with 10 points.
