The Grand Canyon men's basketball team shot a season-high 61.8 percent from the floor tonight in an 83-57 victory over Utah Valley at GCU Arena in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Antelopes improved to 15-11 overall, 6-3 in the Western Athletic Conference. The win also kept GCU in a second-place tie with Kansas City and 2.0 games back of leader, New Mexico State. Utah Valley fell to 9-15, 3-6.

The 61.8 percent (34-for-55) was the highest mark since posting a 62.5 field goal percentage in an 84-58 win over Adams State on Dec. 29, 2007 when GCU was a member of NCAA Division II. GCU shot 61.7 percent (29-for-47) in their 83-81 win over Abilene Christian on Dec. 28, 2014.
The Antelopes had five players score in double digits tonight, with
DeWayne Russell leading the charge with 19 points.
De'Andre Davis had 14 on 6-for-7 shooting,
Joshua Braun 13,
Jerome Garrison 12 on 6-for-7 shooting and
Royce Woolridge 10. For Garrison it was his first double-digit scoring night since dropping 20 on UVU on Jan. 15.
The Lopes never trailed in the game, building as much as a 17-point lead in the first half when they went up 36-19 with 4:43 left in the half. They went into the break with a 47-33 lead on 72.0 percent (18-for-25) shooting, their best half of the season.
The Antelopes dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Wolverines 33-24. The plus-nine margin tied for the third-highest plus margin this season. The glass work also led to a 38-22 points in the paint advantage. Garrison notched a game-high seven boards, equaling his season-best total, done on three other occasions.
Grand Canyon remains home for two more games beginning with a matchup against Texas-Pan American on Thursday, Feb. 19 at GCU Arena.
