In a game in which Grand Canyon led for only 46 seconds, the Antelopes came away victorious, defeating Texas-Pan American, 64-59, at GCU Arena in Phoenix, Ariz.
The win improved the Antelopes' overall record to 16-11, 7-3 and sole possession of second place in the Western Athletic Conference. UTPA falls to 9-18, 3-8.

GCU trailed 57-50 with 3:38 remaining, before scoring the next nine points to grab a two-point lead. The run featured a pair of free throws by
De'Andre Davis and
Ryan Majerle, as well as baskets by
Joshua Braun and
Royce Woolridge.
The Broncs tied the game at 59 with 1:07 left in the game, setting the stage for the game winner. GCU executed a perfect offensive set that led to a Braun layup with 20 seconds left that gave the Lopes the lead they would not relinquish.
Davis finished with 14, one shy of his career high. Braun also finished with 14, 12 coming in the second half.
The Antelopes trailed by as many as 11 in the contest, with the last coming with 9:50 left in the game and behind 49-38. GCU had a pair of nine-point deficits in the opening half and went into the break down 34-27.
The bench came up big once again tonight for Canyon, outscoring UTPA 25-8. Majerle added nine points in 28 minutes of action.
After committing only 18 turnovers in their three previous contests, GCU had 12 miscues this evening. The Lopes, however, forced 16 Broncs tunrovers and created an 18-8 edge in points of those.
Grand Canyon will now host New Mexico State on Saturday, Feb. 21 at GCU Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the AZT7 (streamed at www.cox7.com) and can be heard on radio on KXXT 1010 AM Family Values Radio (also available on the KXXT TuneIn Radio app). The Aggies currently sit atop the WAC standings with a 10-1 record, 2.5 games ahead of the Antelopes. New Mexico State defeated GCU, 85-63, on Jan. 22 in Lac Cruces. Kansas City sits in third, one game back of GCU.
