A high-tech system conceived by Dr. Micheal Clark to help athletes reduce injuries, Fusionetics has a goal of optimizing performance, enhancing recovery and extending the careers of student-athletes. When Grand Canyon purchased the system, it joined the Phoenix Suns and Iowa State as clients on the cutting edge of innovation in athletic training.
Director of Sports Medicine Geordie Hackett leads the men's basketball team through the program, assessing various aspects of players' mobility and flexibility before entering his observations into a laptop. The result is an athletic trainer's evaluation that the athletes can either take with them as a printout or have delivered via cell phone, giving them exercises focused on aiding physical imbalances and helping the player stay on top of the game.
