The Grand Canyon University men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision today to New Mexico State in Las Cruces, NM.
The Antelopes fell to 10-6 overall, while the Aggies evened their overall record at 10-10.
"There were lots of lead changes and momentum changes throughout the match," said head coach Greg Prudhomme. "We had our nose out in front, up a break when the match was 3-3 and down to the deciding match with
Adrian Legarreta. Both players were cramping and it was like a heavyweight fight in the final round. This was a hard one to lose, but I am super proud of the attitude and effort of every guy that was out there. We feel we have earned the respect of those in the conference. To think how close we were to being 5-0 against conference teams is a great sign for the program."
New Mexico State opened the day by taking the doubles point and set the stage for the singles round. Of the six singles matches, four went three sets, each side winning two, taking over four hours to complete the match.
Benjamin Collomb and
Alexander Roggenkamp each won in three sets for the Lopes. Roggenkamp has won five-straight singles matches, Collomb has won four in a row.
Nicolas Moulin cruised to a win in straight sets at No. 1 singles.
The Antelopes will be off until April 24-26, when they will have three matches in Omaha, Neb. Go to
