Grand Canyon celebrated nine seniors prior to tipoff and followed with a two-hour party in a 77-55 victory over Texas Pan-American Saturday at Antelope Gymnasium.

Deanna Daniels hit her first four shots and freshman
August Touchard nailed her first three, including two 3-pointers to get GCU off to a quick start. Daniels finished with a game-high 27 on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 7-for-9 at the free-throw line. She added nine rebounds and three assists.
The win capped off a memorable first regular season at the Division I level. GCU finishes 21-8 and 10-6 and in third place in the Western Athletic Conference.
"Days like today are special when you can honor your seniors and close out your regular season in this fashion," said GCU coach Trent May. "They're a great group of individuals that have played as a team all year.
"I'm beyond thankful for their togetherness, heart and fight. I'm extremely proud of them and extremely proud of my staff."
Daniels was one of eight players recognized prior to the game, joining
Johnna Brown,
Jasmine Grayson,
Justine Johnson,
Judy Jones,
Asha McDonnell,
Erica Paskell and
Jenna Pearson. The team also honored four-year manager John Zetino.
"It's hard when you lose a lot of great players, but more importantly they're all great people," added May. "Now, let's go to the post season."
Though ineligible for the WAC and NCAA tournaments due to its transition to D-I, Grand Canyon can play in either the WNIT or WBI post season tournaments. Along with a 20-plus win season and third-place finish in the WAC, the Antelopes have impressive wins over East Carolina and Hawai'i and true road wins over North Texas, Nevada and Louisiana-Monroe.
In the first half, GCU shot 50 percent (15-for-30) from the field, including 46.7 percent (7-for-15) from 3-point range. Johnson had four first-half treys. Daniels had 15 first-half points. She hit 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. Brown had five first-half assists and two steals.
For the game, Brown had a season-high 15 rebounds, her 13th double-figure rebound game of the season, and a team-high six assists. Johnson scored 17 points and went 5-for-10 from 3-point range.
GCU went 11-for-24 (45.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
