Grand Canyon University freshman goalkeeper
Blakely Fraasch has been named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 27- Nov. 3, as announced by the conference office.
This is Fraasch's second honor of the season, as the freshman keeper earned both WAC Defensive Player of the Week and Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week accolades for the week of Oct. 6-12
Fraasch notched back-to-back shutouts on the road at Bakersfield to help Grand Canyon finish the regular season tied for third in the WAC standings.  She grabbed a total of six saves in the two wins, including five on Saturday night. Fraasch holds a conference-best .855 save percentage in WAC games and her four season shutouts rank her second in the conference.
The Lopes, who were picked to finish fifth in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, finish their 2014 campaign tied for third with Utah Valley in the regular season conference standings. GCU is not eligible for the postseason as Canyon is in its second year of the four-year transitional period. Fans can visit
