Grand Canyon University freshman goalkeeper
Blakely Fraasch has been named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 6-12, as announced by the conference office.
Fraash recorded a pair of shutouts on the road as Grand Canyon earned wins at Seattle U and Utah Valley over the weekend. The freshman stopped all six shots she faced on Friday against Seattle U before picking up eight more saves against Utah Valley on Sunday. She currently sits second in the WAC in conference GAA at 0.67 in 269:12 played.Â
This is the first-ever honor for Fraasch and second WAC weekly accolade for a GCU women's soccer player, as Maria Monterroso was tabbed as the WAC Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 14-21.
The Lopes will be back on the road again next weekend for a pair of conference games, playing at Kansas City on Friday and Chicago State on Sunday. Fans can visit
