Grand Canyon came back from a two-set deficit, but fell just shy of its first win of the season, dropping a 3-2 contest to Illinois State at the Wolf Pack Invitational in Reno, Nev., Friday.
The Antelopes (0-3) lost by set scores of 25-12, 25-16, 17-25, 16-25, 15-12.

Kaitlynn Ausmus each had a double-double. Davis had 13 kills and 13 digs. Ausmus added 13 kills and 12 digs.
The Antelopes hit .286 in the third set and .303 in the fourth. GCU had 19 kills in the third set. Davis had eight of her kills and a block assist in the set. Ausmus had five kills in the game and senior middle blocker
Lanie Muys had four kills and a block assist.
Mackenzie Phelps had a team-high 15 digs. Dugan had a match-best three service aces to go with eight kills. Muys had eight kills and two blocks, including one solo. Senior setter

Illinois State, 18-12 and Missouri Valley Conference semifinalists in 2012, improved to 3-1.
GCU plays twice in Reno Saturday. The Antelopes take on UC Davis at 11 a.m. and Weber State at 2 p.m.
