is the first time a GCU player has earned the honor. Phelps set a Grand Canyon and WAC single-match record with 52 digs in a five-set match with Central Connecticut State Friday. She helped lead GCU to a 3-1 record at the Big Green Invitational in Hanover, N.H. Phelps averaged 6.81 digs per set over four contests.

The Antelopes have won four of their last five matches and take a 4-5 record into the home opener Wednesday at GCU Arena against Arizona Christian. They take on Louisiana-Monroe Thursday at Antelope Gymnasium. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
"We're coming back home with some confidence and are excited to play in front of our fans," said GCU coach Kris Naber. "Our fans got a glimpse of our team at the Alumni Match (Aug. 24), now they can see how far we've come.
"After nine matches on the road, it will be good to play on familiar territory and with our fans supporting us."
GCU's first nine matches have been either road or neutral site contests. In three weeks, the team has been to Ogden, Utah, Reno, Nev., and Hanover N.H.
The Antelopes hold a 9-0 advantage in the all-time series with Arizona Christian, an NAIA school in Phoenix. The Firebirds are 1-7 this season. Thursday's meeting with ULM is the first between the two programs. The Warhawks are 3-9 on the season and playing the Antelopes prior to a weekend tournament at Arizona State.
