The No. 13 Grand Canyon University women’s volleyball team fell this evening, 3-0, to No. 12 BYU-Hawai’i at the Cannon Activities Center in Laie, Hawai’i.
GCU lost by set scores of 25-7, 25-20, 25-18.
The loss drops the Antelopes to 12-2 overall, 2-2 in the Pacific West Conference. BYU-Hawai’i improved to 8-2, 3-0 in the league.

Kristen Johannsen had a GCU-best seven kills and .500 attack percentage. Senior setter
Kristen Preach had 19 of Antelopes’ 29 assists.

Janae Giles had seven digs, while sophomore libero
Mackenzie Phelps added six.

Shelby Taylor hit .500 with six kills and just one error in 10 attempts. Junior setter
Jessica Posse chipped in with nine assists.
The Seasiders controlled the first set, with 17 kills and a .593 hitting percentage, compared to the “Lopes’ four kills and -.043 hitting percentage. GCU battled back and took their lone lead of the match, 11-10 in the second set. They hit .171 in the second and .135 in the third.
Grand Canyon will wrap-up their four-game Hawaiian road trip with a match tomorrow, Sept. 25, against Hawai’i Pacific in Honolulu. The match is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. (Arizona time).
