The No. 13 Grand Canyon University women’s tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win this afternoon over the University of Mary at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz.
The win improved the Antelopes’ overall record to 7-2. Mary fell to 2-6.
GCU worked quickly this afternoon, finishing off the Marauders in 1:25. Combined, the ‘Lopes won 96 of a possible 97 games.
“This was really a good match for the girls,” said head coach Greg Prudhomme. “We are coming up to a stretch where we are going to face some really good teams and will be the underdogs in a lot those matches.”
Highlighting the Antelopes’ efforts was
Justine Majan’s win in the No. 3 singles match. Majan’s win improved her singles record to 9-0 overall.
Priscilla Annoual ran her record at No.1 singles to 3-0 and 8-1 overall.
The men’s and women’s teams will both be in action on March 6 when they will host St. Cloud State at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale. The Huskies are currently ranked sixth in the Central Region. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
