The Grand Canyon University men's and women's track teams completed the first day of action at the Air Force Invitational today. The meet, which is being hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., is taking place in the Cadet Field House.

The only final of the day came in the men's and women's long jump, where GCU's athletes put on a show of force.
Karlin Stewart won the event on the men's side with a leap of 7.57 meters (24 feet, 10 inches), which is an NCAA automatic qualifier and the second-best in the nation in Division II. His mark trails only teammate

"It was an exciting competition as Karlin beat AAron on the last jump of the competition," said head coach
Tom Flood. "In a great show of sportsmanship, AAron seemed to be just as excited in Karlin's big jump as he was!"
GCU men now sit first, second, fourth and tied for fifth in national long jump rankings.
