GCU Drops 3-2 Decision to #15 Lewis

The Grand Canyon University men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to #15 Lewis University tonight in Antelope Gymnasium. The loss marks the end of regular season play and the ‘Lopes finished 0-12 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
Lewis would control the next three sets with Grand Canyon playing catch-up. The Flyers won 25-26, 25-15, and 15-10. Hitting .429 in the third set and .571 in the fifth, GCU couldn’t hold the 15th ranked Lewis University.
Grand Canyon ended the night with 54 kills, four aces, 30 digs, and eight blocks. Lewis had 55 kills, three service aces, 39 digs, and 19.5 blocks.
Griffin led the ‘Lopes with 14 kills, hitting .355 for the match. He also contributed one service ace and three block assists. Galliano contributed nine kills and two services. Wekell ended with 10 kills and sophomore libero Trent Bruns (Mission Viejo, CA , Mission Viejo) had 14 digs.
The ‘Lopes will play against Loyola University in the first round of the MIVA tournament next weekend in Chicago, Ill.
