Grand Canyon (9-6, 3-4) defeated Dominican University of California (0-14, 0-5) 3-0 in a Pacific West Conference volleyball match in San Rafael, Calif. Saturday.
The match – the start of a five-game road trip and won by set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 -- ended a GCU four-match losing streak.
Senior outside hitter
Brooke Blomenkamp had 13 kills and a .407 attack percentage. She added 12 digs, two block assists and two service aces.
Blomenkamp had four kills in each of the first two sets and five in the third.
GCU was tied 11-1 in the first set before scoring 14 of the next 16 points. In the second set, GCU trailed 11-6 before rallying.
Senior middle hitter
Stephanie McBride had three solo blocks, three assists and three kills.
Janae Giles had seven kills. Setter
Kristen Preach had 26 assists, two service aces and 12 digs. Libero
Mackenzie Phelps had 19 digs. Sophomore
Megan Davis added 14 digs.
