Caelen Hiller had nine kills and a .381 hitting percentage to lead Grand Canyon University to a 3-0 non-conference volleyball win over Chaminade at Antelope Gymnasium Tuesday.
It was the seventh straight win for the Antelopes. Set scores were 25-18, 25-14, 25-19.
“This was a good solid win,” said GCU head coach Kris Naber. “I feel we’ve been on an upward climb going into the last part of our season. We’re seeing people perform consistently.”
Six players had between five and nine kills and GCU (15-6) hit .266 overall, including .316 in the final set and .306 in the opener.
Defensively, the ’Lopes had 10 blocks.
Stephanie McBride had one solo block and four block assists to go with six kills and a .312 hitting percentage.
Shelby Taylor added four block assists and five kills.
Setter
Kristen Preach had 30 assists, seven digs, two service aces and six kill. Libero
Mackenzie Phelps had 13 digs.
Brooke Blomenkamp had seven kills, nine digs, one solo block and three block assists.
Janae Giles had eight kills and two block assists.
Chaminade falls to 2-15.
GCU takes on Hawai’i Pacific 6 p.m. Saturday at Antelope Gymnasium. It’s a key match in the Pacific West Conference. HPU is in second place with a 6-2 league mark. GCU is 8-4 in the PacWest. The Antelopes beat the Sea Warriors 3-1 in an exciting match at GCU in September.
