Grand Canyon (13-6, 7-4) finished off a sweep of its five-match road trip to northern California with a 3-1 Pacific West Conference victory over Notre Dame de Namur (2-20, 2-8) at Gleason Gym in Belmont, Calif.
GCU won by set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.
Senior middle hitter
Stephanie McBride tied a school record for block assists in a match with 11. She also had one solo block, seven kills and four service aces. The ’Lopes had 26 block assists and three solo blocks in the win.
Four other players have had 11 block assists in a match: Mandy Forrest (2002), Lia Bauler (1991), Theresa Kennedy (1988) and Billie Gillis (1984).
Junior setter
Kristen Preach had six block assists to go with seven kills, with no errors, and 38 assists.
Sophomore
Caelen Hiller led in kills with 10. Off the bench, freshman
Hayleigh Friemoth had eight and a .333 attack percentage. Libero
Mackenzie Phelps had 18 digs.
Brooke Blomenkamp and
Janae Giles each had 15 and Hiller added 10. Blomenkamp also had five block assists.
The Antelopes return home to take on Chaminade Monday and Tuesday. Both matches begin at 6 p.m. at Antelope Gymnasium. Only Monday’s contest will count in the PacWest standings. Fans unable to attend can follow the match with live stats and live video links available on the team’s

The ’Lopes improved to 8-0 on the road this season.
"I'm real proud of how the girls played on this trip,” said GCU head coach Kris Naber. “Anytime you can come home from a road trip 5-0 you have to be happy. Hopefully, we can take this momentum back with us to Phoenix. We have a big week ahead and will have to continue to play well to be successful."
