GCU senior celebration to take place Saturday
Grand Canyon (13-10, 7-5 Mountain West) hosts San José State (7-15, 2-10 MW) for matches at 6 p.m. (Phoenix time) Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Globa Credit Union Arena. Saturday's match will begin with prematch recognition for the Lopes' four seniors — Bella Anderson, Katie Schulza, Ali Wiest and Starr Williams.Â
The Lopes enter the week of play in a MW third-place tie with UTEP and New Mexico, all of whom trail second-place UC Davis by one game. Each team has six matches remaining with GCU following this week with two-match sets against UTEP at home and at UC Davis to end the regular season. The four-team Mountain West Championship will be Nov. 24 and 25 at UNLV.
Thursday's Lopes-Spartans match will be available to watch on Arizona's Family Sports as well as MW+, with Saturday's rematch being on 3TV and MW+.Â

- GCU third-year head coach Kendra Potts entered the season with a career record of 162-50Â (.764) that places her ninth among active NCAA coaches.

- The 2025 season marked an attendance record for the Lopes with 25,780 fans.

- Freshman setter/opposite Bella Nunez ranked third in Division I with nine triple-doubles.
- GCU set a single-season program record with 516 block assists.
- As a freshman, Aubrey Bellus set the individual match record with 14 total blocks at San Diego State on Oct. 16, 2025.
- GCU set Division I-era team match records with 36 block assists and 21 total blocks at San Diego State on Oct. 16, 2025.
During the 2026 season ...
- Aubrey Goodere now ranks 2nd in GCU's D1-era career block assist with 239.
- Starr Williams' 30 kills vs UNLV ranks firstst in program Division I-era history for a five-set match.
- Williams surpassed 1,000 career kills vs Omaha.
- Bella Anderson set a career high in single-match digs with 28 vs. Temple.
- Through Week 9, Williams ranks first in the MW in kills/set with 4.39 and first in kills with 202.
- GCU ranks third in the MW with a .235 hitting percentage.
- Taylor Kubacak passed 100 career aces this season.
- Williams is averaging 17 kills per match in the last seven matches.
LAST TIME OUT
- Grand Canyon volleyball swept New Mexico 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 on Thursday behind balanced offense, aggressive serving and a defense that held the Lobos to .066 hitting. Two days later, the Lopes completed the road sweep with a 25-22, 22-25, 26-24, 25-13 win, highlighted by Starr Williams' 13 kills and Aubrey Bellus' nine kills on .500 hitting with three aces.
