Grand Canyon's volleyball program, for the first time, will play host to Dominican University of California in a Pacific West Conference match 6 p.m. Friday at Antelope Gym.
Dominican is in its second year in the PacWest. GCU won twice at DUC last year. The teams will play a second match at 6 p.m. Saturday.
It's the conference home-opener for the 'Lopes and a festive atmosphere is expected.
There will be campus activities prior to the match on Mariposa, as well as, in the gym during the second-third set intermission.
After losing some close matches on the recent road trip, GCU comes in with some momentum, defeating Notre Dame de Namur 3-0 last Saturday to earn its first PacWest win of the season. GCU is 5-10 overall and 1-3 in league play. Dominican is 2-11 and 0-2 in league play.
There is no admission fee for the matches or any contests on the GCU campus this season. At the gate, for volleyball and other contests at GCU, donations will be accepted by the Make a Wish Foundation.
Fans unable to attend can follow the action on the B2 Network. A link to the network is available on the GCULopes.com home page and women's volleyball page calendars and the women's volleyball schedule page.
