Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, AZ, Sunnyslope) broke the school's record for career digs in a 3-1 loss to Notre Dame de Namur at Walter Gleason Gym Tuesday.
It was the Pacific West Conference opener for the Antelopes (4-8, 0-1), which dropped sets by scores of 23-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-20.
Durbin had a match-high 24 digs. She has 1,347 for her career, two more than former record-holder Amber LeTarte (1996-99).
GCU will continue its four-match road trip with a 7 p.m. contest in San Francisco Wednesday against Academy of Art.
GCU sophomore outside hitter
Erica Ehlo (Spokane, WA, Lewis and Clark) had a double-double Tuesday with 13 kills and 15 digs. She added four service aces, too. Freshman outside hitter
Kaitlynn Ausmus (Glendale, AZ, Deer Valley) also had 13 kills.
Sophomore setter
Kristen Preach (Phoenix, AZ, Xavier Prep) had 30 assists and moved up to No. 7 on the program's all-time list with 1,346 for her career. She passed Jenny Collard (1995-96) who had 1,333. Sixth on the all-time list is current head coach Kris (Belcher) Naber, who had 2,306 in 1988-89.
Preach had seven kills, a .385 hitting percentage and three block assists.
Senior
Tommyka Henry (Phoenix, AZ, Alhambra) had two solo blocks and three block assists.
